Why Karum

Foreign companies have done business in Turkey for 4,000 years.

The first ones kept the paperwork. Almost 4,000 years ago, Assyrian merchants built a karum, a merchant quarter, at Kanesh near today's Kayseri. They left about 24,000 clay tablets: loans, commercial notes and court records.

We do the same job with modern tools: a clear route into the market, the costs in writing, and every document in order.

Three illustrative scenarios

These are worked examples built from the published rules and estimates on this site. They are not client cases.

German software company, sales subsidiary

Wholly owned LLC with TRY 500,000 capital so one German manager can get a work permit. Formation by power of attorney, about 5 weeks to registration, bank account 2 weeks later.

Dutch exporter, unpaid invoice of EUR 80,000

Demand letter, then enforcement without judgment in Istanbul. The debtor has 7 days to object. No objection means attachment can follow within weeks.

UK fintech, payment services

Feasibility first: own licence needs a Turkish joint stock company with TRY 40 million minimum equity and systems in Türkiye, and takes at least one to two years.

Questions

Common questions

How does the fixed price work?

You describe your case in a short form. Within 24 hours you receive a written scope that lists what is included, what is excluded, the timeline and one price. Work starts only after you accept it.

Can a foreign company own 100% of a Turkish company?

Yes. International investors have the same rights and liabilities as local investors, and a limited liability company can be set up with a single shareholder. A few sectors such as broadcasting, maritime and civil aviation have restrictions.

What is the minimum capital for a company in Turkey?

TRY 50,000 for a limited liability company and TRY 250,000 for a joint stock company.

How long does it take to register a company in Turkey?

Registration at the Trade Registry is completed the same day once the file is complete. Including documents prepared abroad, published estimates run from 2 to 8 weeks, and a bank account adds 1 to 3 weeks.

Who carries out the legal work?

Regulated legal and accounting work is carried out by licensed Turkish professionals inside the package. You have one point of contact and one invoice.

Do we need to travel to Turkey?

Company formation can be handled by a notarised and apostilled power of attorney. Most banks accept a power of attorney or remote identification, but practice varies by bank, so plan for one possible visit.
